We discovered la Mine d’Or in June 2007 upon deciding to move to the country after 15 years in the historic center of Aix-en-Provence. Having searched around Aix, to the east, between Forcalquier and the Massif des Maures, we went to Uzès and beyond, discovered and fell under the charm of La Mine d’Or.

The beauty of the varying landscapes, the Ganière flowing among the bolders at the foot of the property, the 19th century industrial architecture convinced us in a matter of hours.

How Rebekka and Didier, the former owners, have transformed this wonderful spot corresponds to what we were looking for. Their humanity and philosophy inspire us to continue the adventure of La Mine d’Or. Many sleepless nights have already been filled with plans for the renovation of the mine shaft building. How astonishing that we had recently spent a sabbatical year in the Cévennes, which we know well, just a few kilometers from here!

We will create a living place that is simple, sober, comfortable, and beautiful. Our choices respect the site and sustainable growth. We will live with the seasons and share this bounty with like-minded guests to our gîtes.

We will maintain the peace, serenity, and harmony of the setting, simply decorated,
with works of contemporary artists. La Mine d’Or lends itself to personal regeneration whether one comes alone, as a family, or with friends.
